At 3:45 this morning crew from RBCFD responded to a fire behind a refrigerator. Upon arrival they smoke inside the residence Upon further investigation, they found charred material behind the refrigerator. Upon removal of refrigerator, found that there was a light duty extension cord plugged into a toaster oven. A huge credit goes to smoke detectors that alerted the residence.
Check your smoke detectors on a regular basis if you need smoke detectors or need them to be looked at contact your local fire department and do not use extension cords as the cord on most appliances. Are you all rated in intended to be plugged into the wall without an extension cord.
This outcome could have been a lot worse at the smoke detectors, not alerted the residence
